# hulla CLI

> Copy UI components into your project as editable source, then review updates through the same CLI.

## Useful when

- You want to install @hulla/ui components as application source.
- You need repeatable component updates across local development and CI.
- You are maintaining a project initialized by an earlier hulla CLI workflow.

The `hulla` CLI copies UI components into your application. You can read, edit, and commit those files like the rest of your code.

The CLI requires Bun. Your installed components build with your app and don't need the CLI at runtime.

**Interactive example: **Edit the install command and see the source files in its install plan. The preview supports Astro, React, and Solid button and dialog components.

An install-plan preview shows framework-specific commands and component source paths. No CLI command is executed or files written.

```sh
# Record your project settings
hulla init
# Configure your component source
hulla ui init
hulla ui add --framework astro button
```

## From project to component

### CLI workflow

1. **Initialize the project** — hulla init records project settings.
2. **Configure UI source** — hulla ui init sets component destinations and support files.
3. **Add components** — hulla ui add copies selected components into your application. Review the changes and run your application checks.
